Recently, it has come to my attention more than ever that the Word of God is being attacked. History records countless lives of those who have suffered great loss for taking a public stance for the Holy Inspired Word of God. I believe that there will come a time when persecution for the sake of the inspired Book will cost Christians more than they have ever experienced before. I do not hold the lost world responsible for such a day but the churches who have not remained firm in the faith and pastors who are preaching a watered down Gospel. I have made it public and I do not hesitate to say that I am praying that God would begin to close the doors of churches all over this globe and remove all pastors who do not believe and preach the inspired Word of God.
A while ago I was asked how I can say that the Bible is really the word of God?
My first response to that question was simply this: God told me.
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” It does not get any easier and simpler than that; you either accept God’s Word or you call the Creator of the Universe a liar.
Everything rises and falls on whether or not the Bible is actually the Word of God. We live in a society where they hold to the belief that “everything that is called truth does not have to be called accurate.”
What made America and England great countries was the fact that they were founded on the Word of God. I make no apology for writing that the fall of both countries is due to the fact that the Word of God has taken a back seat to the stupidity of men.
The story is told of Sir Walter Scott, who, on his deathbed, asked Lockhart to read to him. Mystified, as he scanned the library of books that Walter Scott had written, he asked, “What book shall I read’? Sir Walter replied, “Why do you ask that question; there is but one book, bring the Bible.”
There is another story about an African prince who came to England and was presented to Her majesty Queen Victoria. This prince asked a very solid question, “What is the secret of England’s greatness”? The Queen went and got a beautifully bound leather Bible and presented it to the prince with this statement, “This is the secret of England’s greatness”. There is no doubt that England has declined to a third rate country because of the lack of submission to the Word of God.
Voltaire expected that within fifty years of his lifetime there would not be one Bible in the world. His house is now a distribution center for Bibles in many languages.
And just in case you think that America is fine with their beliefs and their stance on the Scriptures being the Word of God…
One of America’s greatest presidents wrote, “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible”. --George Washington.
Fast forward to today and read about how the “People’s President” feels about the Scriptures: Several news reports state that Barack Obama has removed the Holy Bible quotes from the Pentagon's daily intelligence briefings.
There is no doubt that the reason that our countries are experiencing a time of frustration and uncertainties is their sin in moving away from the belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
The reason why I can write that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of God is…
1. Proof from Fulfilled Prophecy
It has been rather amusing to watch the weathermen try and predict the weather forecast; is it me or do they change their minds every thirty seconds? But, the Word of God is full of prophecy and it is amazing that every prophecy, although written thousands of years earlier, are coming true in exactly the way that the Scriptures say they will.
2. Historical Accuracy
3. Evidence from Archaeology
4. Manuscript Evidence
5. Evidence from Changed Lives
The Scriptures have the power to take any sinful and corrupt person and change his or her lifestyle. Saul of Tarsus persecuted the church but when he met God his life was changed forever.
6. Evidence from the Indestructibility of the Bible
There once lived a king, who, when the Word of God was sent to him, took a penknife and cut it to pieces. But, it was rewritten and we have the Word of God. Down through the centuries there have been a great deal of Bible burnings and yet the Bible remains.
7. Evidence from Internal Unity of the Bible
Although there are several different translations, no Bible contradicts itself. They may have different wording but the unity and the theme remains the same.
I can only present the facts as to why I can say that the Bible truly is the inspired word of God...by faith you must accept this truth. Deny it if you will, but over time you will discover that those who put their trust in the governments will be disappointed; nor do universities hold the key to a successful life. The family unit is breaking down: churches are full of people can become separated, and, like never before, families all over this globe are experiencing divorce, as families melt down. Lastly, the economy, which was once looked upon as indestructible, has fallen to its lowest level in over 70 years. Listen to this fact: When all else fails, you can rest assured that the Bible remains and will always remain!
I challenge you to prove that the Bible is not the Word of God! I also challenge you to get alone with God and allow Him to talk to you through His holy and inspired Word.
If you are serious in becoming a student of the Scriptures, may I suggest to you some guidelines that you can put into use in your own life?
1. Begin with prayer; 2. Read the Bible; 3. Study the Bible;
4. Meditate on the Bible; 5. Obey the Bible
The leaves are falling, homes are quiet again, and the kids are back to learning in the classroom; all of this leads me to believe one thing: summer is over and the fall has quickly arrived. With the arrival of the fall, the church ministries will begin to pick up again and this year the church will provide all kinds of ministries for you to be involved in. I invite you to come this Sunday evening at 6:30 and join with us in a time of fellowship, food, special music, and getting geared up as I will present to you our ministry forecast for the upcoming year.
We have been given the privilege and opportunity to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in a free country. As the Psalmist said, “Let us worship His name together”. I invite you to come and worship the Lamb of God. Every Sunday morning we meet at 10:00 to have a time of prayer, followed by our Sunday morning service, beginning at 11:00. Come worship our Saviour with us! Like never before, the words of the book of Hebrews should be on the minds and hearts of all of those who belong to Jesus Christ: “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together; as in the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see that Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24, 25.
