Whitney Lake Bible Camp Fundraising Banquet

This past Saturday was the annual Whitney Lake Fundraising Banquet. This event rotates between the communities involved in operating the camp and this year saw Two Hills as the hosting town. It was a joint effort between the Two Hills Fellowship Chapel and the Two Hills Mennonite Church. The venue was the Two Hills seniors center which was packed out with an estimated attendance of around 160 people from all across the region.  It was a great atmosphere for visiting and reconnecting with old friends. The food was fantastic as always. Many thanks to all the ladies who spent hours preparing the feast.  There was a great variety of items in the silent auction and bidding was fast and furious. The Two Hills Fellowship Chapel worship Band led some singing and cowboy poets Dale Thompson from Grande Prairie and Local talent Randy Hauk entertained with their poetic delivery of stories from the western life. During the poetry performances audience member Jason McKenzie did a sketch of each poet with crayon on the the brown paper tablecloths. They came out so good that they fetched a pretty penny in the live auction. Also up for bid at the live auction were two adventure experience packages. The first was an afternoon at the lake with the Boettcher's. This included unlimited use of water sports equipment and water ski/wakeboard/kneeboard/wake surfing instruction by Terry. The second was a Family horseback trail ride in the North Saskatchewan River Valley, Guided by
Brian Loewen. Complete with Barbeque following the ride.  The final item for live auction was a dumpster donated by Environmental Metal Works. This item brought close to double its value by the time the gavel dropped.  The camp runs much of
it's programming based on the genero-
us donations of the people in attendance at the banquet. Although the banquet is the main fundraising event, the camp does accept donations throughout the year. If you are interested in supporting Whitney Lake Bible Camp, either financially or with your time as a volunteer, please get in touch with Brian Loewen (Camp Board Chairperson) He would be happy to direct you in the right direction. (His contact information can be found in an earlier blog post) Thank you to the many volunteers who made this years event a success. Thank you to all the people who came out to show their support for the camping ministry. We look forward to what God has in store for His camp. We are all greatful for the opportunity to take part in His work.
