On Sunday, we looked at Philippians 4:4-9 and dealt with the issue of worry. We learned that worry is like a weed, and if it is not pulled out of our hearts, it will strangle everything that is beautiful in our lives. Worry affects every area of your life. Paul commands the believers in the church of Philippi to “be anxious for nothing.” The word “anxious” in verse 6 is a very interesting word. In the Greek it means to be divided or distracted, and in the Latin it means to choke or to strangle. That is exactly what worry does to a believer in Christ. We worry about out possessions, we worry about our circumstances – even the ones that we have no control over – and we worry about people – sadly even the ones who are trying to make your life miserable.
We must understand these two things:
WORRY SURVIVES WHEN YOU ARE DISTRACTED FROM LIVING IN HIS PRESENCE (Luke 10:38-42)
WORRY SURVIVES WHEN YOU ARE DISTRACTED FROM LIVING IN THE PRESENT (Matthew 6:25-34)
If I could give you one word of advice when it comes to “winning over worry” stop living a life filled with panic and start living a life operated by prayer!
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE KINDNESS
Albert Schweitzer “Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.”
If I had the opportunity to ask your marriage partner, your children, or even your co-workers to describe you, I wonder if they would define you as a kind person. Do you go out of your way to show kindness to others or is it something that you often overlook because it may interfere with your plans, it is far too time consuming, or it is far too demanding.
I challenge you to go out of your way to be kind to someone today. Remember, it may cost you more than you think, but in the end it might just be worth it! By that small act of kindness shown, you might just be a person that others will read about for years to come.
“And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar. Then king David sent, and fet him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar. Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant. And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons. And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth. So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and he was lame in both his feet.”

-Never underestimate kindness-
When you don’t feel like being kind, remember that God has shown kindness to us even though we do not deserve it!
Is there a current situation in which you are struggling to be kind? What is stopping you from being compassionate in that situation? Life is too short so don’t waste it by not being kind to another!
This week at the church promises to be a very fun and exciting week!
Tuesday at 7 is the Ladies Bible Study
Wednesday at 6:30 is our AWANA club
Saturday the youth group will be meeting again
Sunday at 10:00 is Sunday School
Sunday at 11:00 we will continue our study in the Book of Philippians
We have been given the privilege and opportunity to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in a free country. As the Psalmist said, “Let us worship His name together”. I invite you to come and worship the Lamb of God. This Sunday morning we will be meeting for Sunday School at 10:00, followed by the morning service beginning at 11:00. Come worship our Saviour with us! Like never before, the words of the book of Hebrews should be on the minds and hearts of all of those who belong to Jesus Christ: “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together; as in the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see that Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24, 25.
Pastor Paul
May God richly bless your life as you continue to serve and remain faithful to Him!
